Introduction of Psychobiography Institute

Psychobiography Institute is a research institute under the School of Psychology, Northwest Normal University. Its predecessor was the Psychobiography Research Group established in September 2012. The establishment was reviewed by the committee and approved by the party-government joint meeting. The purpose of the establishment of the institute is: (1) To integrate experts and scholars who are interested in psychobiography, psychohistory and qualitative research, to conduct psychobiographical analysis of extraordinary historical figures in a centralized and systematic manner, and to increase students' interest in psychology at the same time. , to improve the students' ability to engage in psychological research and comprehensive humanities and social sciences literacy; gather the research strength of humanities and social sciences-oriented psychology in our college, on the basis of overcoming the insufficiency of mainstream psychology to study the average level of psychology, to research The in-depth analysis of the uniqueness of extraordinary people is the orientation, forming the characteristics of our school in humanistic-oriented psychology; 3. Let the research of psychology go to the public, and serve to improve the influence of psychology in the public.

The Institute currently has more than ten full-time and part-time researchers, including 5 full-time staff from the School of Psychology of Northwest Normal University, and a number of domestic experts in this field as full-time researchers. Professor James W Anderson of Northwestern University, Professor Xiao Yanzhong of the Department of Political Science of East China Normal University, Professor Ding Xingxiang of the Department of Psychology of Taiwan Fu Jen Catholic University and other internationally renowned psychobiographers serve as the academic consultants of the Institute.
